Favorite Comic Book Covers of the Week 03/16/16

Hey, thanks for checking out Talking Comics: Favorite Comic Book Covers of the Week!

You’ve got to admit, New Comic Book Release Day is pretty much the best day of the week. It’s the day we’re introduced to new worlds, are able to witness the next chapter in a continuing saga, or fall in love with a character or creator for the first time. I could go on and on, but I think you’ve already gotten my point. That point being … comics are awesome. So awesome in fact that even the covers of them are often times incredible works of art. We’re here to show you some of our  favorite covers each week! So go ahead and take a few moments for yourself (haven’t you earned it?) and feast your eyes on some truly inspired comic book covers!

Spider-Woman #5

Art and Cover by Javier Rodriguez

Awwwwwww! Seriously, how adorable is this cover? I can’t wait to find out the little dude’s name! On the art side of things, I love the simplicity of this cover, how it’s main focus is love and nurturing as opposed to action and adventure.

Dragon Age: Magekiller #4

Written by Greg Rucka

Art by Carmen Nunez Carnero – Terry Pallot

Cover by Sachen Teng

I look forward to these covers every month. I love the colors, the linework, and the mystery that surrounds them.

Bob’s Burgers #9

Written by Rachel Hastings

Art by Hector Reynoso – Various

Rare Joe Healy Reynoso Virgin Cover

The power of burgers compels you! The power of burgers compels you! THE POWER OF BURGERS COMPELS YOU!

Silk #6

Written by Robbie Thompson

Art by Veronica Fish

Cover by Helen Chen

Mmmmm, love that soft color and almost anime-like presentation of this cover. There’s a part of me that wishes the interiors of the book were by Helen Chen as well.

Legacy of Luthor Strode #5

Written by Justin Jordan

Art and Cover by Felipe Sobreiro

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh damn, yo! Only two issues of Luther Strode until it’s all over. Stuff is about to go DOWN!

Bob Reyer’s Favorite Comic Book Covers of the Week

CAPTAIN MARVEL #3 (Marvel)

Writer: Tara Butters; Michele Fazekas
Artist/Cover: Kris Anka

unnamed

A very nice “Right Stuff” vibe to this striking cover by Kris Anka!

POWER MAN & IRON FIST #2 (Marvel)

Writer: David F. Walker
Artist/Cover: Sanford Greene

unnamed (1)

New Yorkers are just so blase, aren’t they?

MONSTER JUNKIES: SANCTUARY GN (Red Anvil)

Writer: Erik Daniel Shein; L. Zane Pinnock
Artist/Cover: Larry Spike Jarrell

unnamed (2)

Having said what I said up-page, even “I’ve seen everything” Gothamites wouls probably stop and look at a lady taking her pet giant spider out for a walk!

SCARLET WITCH #4 (Marvel)

Writer: James Roinson
Artist: Steve Dillon
Cover: David Aja

unnamed (3)

Where the Scarlet Witch walks, she must walk alone…

SPIDER-WOMAN #5 (Marvel)

Writer: Dennis Hopeless
Artist: Javier Rodriguez
Variant Cover: Javier Rodriguez

unnamed (4)

Not that the regular cover wasn’t worthy of inclusion here (’cause it was!), but c’mon now, the “A-w-w-w” factor on this one is off-the-charts!

DOORMAN #1 (Heavy Metal)

Writer: Eliot Rahall; Daniel Kibblesmith
Artist/Cover: Kendall Goode

unnamed (5)

Absolutely hysterical; an apartment building doorman as the gate-keeper for the universe–and no one ever thought of this before now, why?

Favorite Comic Book Covers of the Week Soundtrack

I’ve been in a real Deftones mood, lately, while I’m waiting for the release of their new album. Here’s an emotional jam from their album “Diamond Eyes“. Enjoy!
