Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has added to its roster for the upcoming season with the announcement that Adrianne Palicki will be playing Barbara “Bobbi” Morse, aka Mockingbird, on the show.
The former Friday Night Lights star is no stranger to a superhero costume, having played Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s ill-fated 2011 series pilot for NBC. She was also cast in the Aquaman pilot as the villain Nadia, and as the false Kara in season 3 of Smallville.
Barbara “Bobbi” Morse has a long history in the Marvel comics with S.H.I.E.L.D. The character started off as a scientist working on a way to replicate the Super-Soldier serum before becoming an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and then taking on the Mockingbird moniker. It will be interesting to see how she fits into the show with the organization having been dismantled. Her ties to Clint Barton in the comics will no doubt have fans salivating for the possibility of a guest appearance from Hawkeye himself.
The second season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres September 23 on ABC in the U.S.
