According to multiple news sources it’s been revealed that Paul Bettany, best known for his work in Legion and The Da Vinci Code, has been cast as The Vision in the upcoming sequel to The Avengers, set to be released next year.
The news came courtesy of The Daily Mail, which spotted Bettany at Shepperton Studios doing hair, costume and make-up checks for the character alongside Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and director Joss Whedon. The story was later confirmed by Variety, though no formal announcement from Marvel, Bettany or Whedon has been given at this time. Many sources are expecting that since the news is now out, a statement is soon to follow. It will be interesting so see whether Bettany will be pulling double duty, as he also voices Tony Stark’s AI assistant JARVIS, or if his AI will evolve into a higher state of being.
Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out May 1, 2015.
