The Governor’s story is revisited with this special as it features his first appearance and the CBLDF short story. Having never read the issue when the Governor first appeared and after watching this third season of the TV series unfold, I was curious. I got a better understanding as to who the Governor is. There are things in the story which are featured on the TV show which were furthered explained for me such as why the Governor has the fish tanks with the severed animated heads in a room. I have to admit, it was weird to see Rick with both of his arms, Carl with no hole in his eye, and Lori still being alive, since I’ve been reading most of the issues after all of those bad things had taken place.
The writing’s great and so’s the artwork.
Verdict:
Buy if you want this as a collector’s item or if you’ve never read the issue featuring the Governor. If you want the whole story arc though then don’t buy it.
