This year rounds up the 10 year anniversary for the Firefly franchise. It’s a huge milestone for the cancelled-too-early series, considering the fact that the fan movement was able to motivate a feature film years after it was cancelled is a testament to how dedicated of the audience. This year at San Diego Comic-Con, the cast and creators come together with the fans to celebrate ten years of Firefly. Come check out the details for this event!
FIREFLY 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Friday 7/13/12, 12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m., Room: 20
It has been 10 years since the crew of Serenity took flight in Joss Whedon’s short-lived but now revered series, FIREFLY. SCIENCE will reconvene, for the first time in a decade, Captain Mal Reynolds and the crew from the ship, calling all Browncoats to unite at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. The cast of FIREFLY will talk about the past, present and future of FIREFLY, 10 years after its debut. SHINY.
Firefly has been a true rarity in the industry. It tanked in the first season with barely a season in it’s queue, then it became a cult phenomena, and then it stuck back to become a movie. This was back when Joss Whedon wasn’t making billion dollar movies and Nathan Fillion wasn’t the star personality on Castle. The fact that this showed the industry the fact that fan support does count for something is really inspiring. Though we’ll never get Firefly back again, this is probably one of the last handful of chances to see the cast and crew together again for one last round of fun.
