Legendary Runs Episode 31: Kelly Sue DeConnick’s Captain Marvel

The RunAvenging Spider-Man 9-10, Captain Marvel 1-16, Avengers The Enemy Within 1, Avengers Assemble 16-17, Captain Marvel 1-15, Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps

It’s hard to believe that the beginning of this run is going on 6 years. Kelly Sue DeConnick’s Captain Marvel wasn’t just a comic, it was a banner. Through DeConnick, Carol Danvers was promoted to one of the most revered mantles in the Marvel Universe: Captain Marvel. It was so much more than a just a title and new costume. The Carol Corps became one of the largest and most welcoming communities in fandom. So, does the run live up to our distinction of legendary? Not to spoil the episode, but duh, of course it does. Join Mara and Matt as they become a little nostalgic for 2012, and break down what make this series soar.

Matt Wood is a high school English teacher in North Arkansas. His classroom is littered with comic book posters and notes about Hawthorne that are as difficult to decipher as they are to be interested in. Not Matt's fault though, Nathaniel Hawthorne…
