Emberlab, a digital media developer, has released a short film adaptation of the video game “The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.”
Along with Theophany, a sound designer and composer, they perfectly captured the spirit and the tone of the Zelda game through the music.
The film is titled “Majora’s Mask – Terrible Fate” and at four and a half minutes follows the Skull Kid’s dark origin story of how he comes into possession of Majora’s Mask.
The Happy Mask Salesman begins the video with “Here, at the end of things. I can still feel its power. When I found it, I could sense the doom of a dark omen brewing,” before Tatl, Link’s guide in the game, and Tael meet the young Skull Kid. They wander and play through the forest to Theophany’s song “Woods of Mystery.”
The power of Majora’s Mask paralyzes the Happy Mask Salesman and when Skull Kid stumbles on it he is enthralled by its power. He puts on the mask and his descent begins.
The team was inspired to create a “Netflix style” series for the Zelda universe and made this video to determine that it can be done according to Theophany.
The video is gorgeous and is sure to inspire fans of the video game to return to Termina after just a few views.
