It’s hard to cover a complete run of Usagi Yojimbo. Stan Sakai has been illustrating, writing and lettering the comic for over 30 years consistently. However, talking about his work while being published at Fantagraphics is certainly realistic. Once of the things that is often neglected when discussing Usagi is just how consistent Sakai’s comic has been over these thirty years. As we discuss on the show, we don’t think we have covered a more accessible comic yet. If you have ever dismissed it as something for kids, or an epic that is impenetrable, you really must remedy that. Hopefully our discussion will help spark some interest in a beloved constant in the comic industry for the past three decades.
Make sure to check in next time when we discuss Geoff John’s run on Hawkman! Mara and I are in the process of moving, so it will take an additional week. We thank you for your understanding.
