Okay, firstly I need to warn you that if you haven’t seen ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and DO NOT want anything spoiled LOOK AWAY NOW!!
A new wave of toys was announced today and it’ll do a lot (but still falls short of redressing the balance completely) to rectify the issues that spawned the #wheresrey issues.
Heavily featuring Rey, the undoubtedly breakout star of the movie, the toys are somewhat spoilery adding some weight to the reasons that were given for her exclusion in past lines. These toys must have been in the works a while ago to be able to be announced for release in the near future. This doesn’t excuse her previous absence, however, making spoiler-free Rey toys wouldn’t have been difficult. Also, for my liking, if they were worried about spoilers then don’t make the packaging so you can see the toys in the box, shops could easily put pictures aside for people to request and decide upon themselves. Problem solved!
Anyway, enough of my rambling, who wants to see some cool new Rey merch?! I assume everyone just Reysed (haha!) their hands.

Lucasfilm’s Head of Licensing, Paul Southern, has this to say about the new toys: “This new wave of product has got key elements from the film. You see Rey with a saber, her blaster, and a number of other elements we wanted to hold back until the film had been released. The timing is good to try to address some of the social discussion that has been created through the ‘Where’s Rey?’ movement.”
