- This series has been somewhat inconsistent so far, but I’m happy to say there’s more good than bad to report. How this inaugural arc ends should be telling — we’ll have a good idea about this series’ potential going forward. -Max
DARK HORSE COMICS
- This is my favorite new series. Wood’s writing sets a slow burning, tense tone that Chater really compliments with his artwork. A story about a strong woman surrounded by men who aren’t used to her ilk — relevant, much? -Max

- I greatly enjoyed Hope Larson’s first arc on Batgirl, and seeing that she’s taking Barbara back to Burnside has me even more stoked for the start of this next story. Rafael Albuquerque’s art will be missed but I’m looking forward to seeing Chris Wildgoose take a shot at filling that void. -John D.
Detective Comics #949 – James Tynion IV, Marguerite Bennett & Ben Oliver
- One of the best things about Detective Comics being a bi-weekly series is that it’s so freaking good there isn’t a long wait between issues. That’s certainly the case this week as we get the finale to the two-issue “Batwoman Begins” arc that will no doubt set the stage for the Batwoman solo book beginning next month. And it has Ben Oliver on art again, which is worth more than the price of admission alone. -John D.
Justice League of America: KILLER FROST REBIRTH – Steve Orlando, Jody Houser & Mirka Andolfo
Justice League/Suicide Squad #6 (of 6) – Joshua Williamson & Howard Porter
- This event is filled with fun action and some good character interactions, the art for some issues has fell short, but with Howard Porter on art duties I have hope that this will not be the case for the final issue. – Lorna.

- This has the possibility to intrigue, but also to be oversaturated based on the solicitation. This is a 48-page one-shot, so you’re getting your bang for your buck with this one. Looking forward to see what Image and the creative team does with this one-shot. -Max
Loose Ends #1 – Jason Latour & Chris Brunner
- I’m a huge fan of Latour’s artwork on Southern Bastards, and the single issue that he penned was pretty good as well. The latter is what intrigues me about Loose Ends, as does the setting of this crime-romance. Latour is not shy for his love of the south on Twitter and in interviews, and I think his firsthand knowledge of the backdrop could serve this story incredibly well. -Max
Saga #42 – Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples
- I don’t want to read this because I know it’s going to end in heartache, not to mention it will be the last Saga issue for months so whatever Vaughan and Staples leave this issue on will just linger. But, this is Saga and the current arc has been incredible, so this is obviously a must-buy this week, even if I’m probably going to be crushed by it. -John D.
