Neil Gaiman’s How to Talk to Girls At Parties – By Neil Gaiman, Fabio Moon, & Gabriel Ba 

• Uhhhhhh, I freaking teach this short story! A masterclass in bridging short fiction and sci-fi, “How to Talk to Girls at Parties” is one of my absolute favorite stories. The fact that there’s now a graphic novel adaptation with art by FABIO MOON & GABRIEL BA is like a dream come true. Ugh. I can’t. #dreamteam – Joey

Batman #1 – By Tom King & David Finch

• So it begins, the new era of Snyder-less Batman and I’m glad to say I’m much more excited and optimistic about this than I thought I ever would be a few months back when we learned about Rebirth. The Rebirth issue two weeks ago established a fresh tone that sat really nicely with me and put in place quite a few interesting points that have me very intrigued as to what’s in store for Batman from here. Bring it on! – Huw

Green Arrow #1 – By Benjamin Percy & Otto Schmidt 

• This’ll be the first of a few DC character who’re getting their first crack at being on my pull list. Outside of Kevin Smith’s work I’ve never read any Green Arrow until Green Arrow: Rebirth. That Rebirth issue was up there with my favourites so far, it was unapologetic in setting up how Oliver will be in this new title, even if it was rather on the nose at times! I’m really looking forward to diving into Green Arrow and glad to have more than just Batman books in my DC pull list now. – Huw

 

Titans Rebirth #1 –  By Dan Abnett, Norm Rapmund, & Brett Booth 

•  If somehow you haven’t heard by now, the original Wally West is back! And so are the Teen Titans, in a way. In the past I’ve had a hard time finding a Titans title that would stick, but with Rebirth doing such a fantastic job of reintroducing Wally back into this new DCU, I have to at least give this new title a shot and hope for the best. I know Dan Abnett worked on a Titans title in the previous DCU that I didn’t read, so I’m hoping I won’t need knowledge of that previous run to enjoy this one. But at $2.99 I can’t help but try! –John D.

IDW PUBLISHING

Tales From The Darkside #1 – By Joe Hill & Gabriel Rodriguez 

• I’ve been on a horror kick of late, so IDW‘s new thriller anthology from Locke & Key storytellers Joe Hill (JOE FREAKING HILL) and Gabriel Rodriguez definitely grabbed my interest this week. My understanding is that these stories will be adapted from Hill’s scripts originally intended to relaunch the former television series of the same name. Over the 4 issues, we should get some crazy horror, sci-fi, thriller storytelling, and I’m super pumped. Check it! – Joey

Ringside Vol. 1: Kayfabe – By Joe Keatinge, Nick Barber, & Simon Gough 

•  Wrestling and comics mix so well together it’s a wonder there aren’t more books dedicated to the squared circle. Ringside is a title I meant to pick up when it first came out but it unfortunately became one of those “could have, should have, would have” books. Now, however, the trade is out and with that always fantastically low asking price of $9.99, it will be hard for me to say no. And that’s the bottom line. –John D.

 

MARVEL COMICS

Civil War II #2 – By Brian Michael Bendis & David Marquez 

• I’m IN. Let’s do it. After two (three?) very interesting, well-executed issues in Civil War II #0 and #1 (and Free Comic Book Day?), Civil War II has grabbed my attention for its stellar visuals and its deeply personal story. I thought we were going to get hero-on-hero fisticuffs, but instead we’ve started with big ideas boiling down to personal loss and vendettas. I’m really interested to see where this is going. Bendis and Marquez, you got me! – Joey

Patsy Walker, aka Hellcat #7-By Kate Leth & Brittney Williams 

• “PWakaH!”,(as Joey likes to call it) is a book that never fails to delight, and with a Jessica Jones guest appearance slated for this issue, there should be some shenanigans afoot!–Bob

Squadron Supreme #8-By James Robinson & Leonard Kirk 

• From some “teaser-y” things I’ve come across, James Robinson has this series on the brink of some epic events that begin to take shape in this very issue! Here’s hoping that other “event” doesn’t spoil his story-telling momentum!–Bob

VERTIGO 

Clean Room #9- By Gail Simone & Jon Davis-Hunt 

• This creepy series took a severely unexpected turn in the last issue, and when you consider that this book has been filled to the brim with them, that twist once again showed the continued brilliance of Ms. Simone’s work. I can hardly wait to see where this story goes next!–Bob
