A Nerd Girl’s Guide to the Universe: Travel Planning for the Sci-Fi Minded

Welcome one and all to the Last Door on the Left – a travel agency for the adventurous soul. Have you always wanted to see the world beyond the wardrobe?  Longed to wait for the train at 9 ¾? Pined for tickets to hear Plava Laguna sing at Phloston Paradise? Look no further.

Guide to the Universe

Hello, my fellow wanderers! And welcome back to the Last Door on the Left; the inter-dimensional travel agency not for the faint of heart.

Currently, we’re featuring the wonderful world of Sanctuary, where demons and angels consort, their offspring – the nephalem – run wild, and the truly brave (and maybe a little fortune-hunting) can distinguish themselves by fighting to save the world from the ultimate evil, the Lord of Hell: Diablo, himself.  This week’s spotlight is a newly discovered locale aimed specifically at the Adventure Tourist among us: Greyhollow Island.

Long thought lost to legend, this isolated, mist-shrouded isle off the coast of Westmarch has been recently rediscovered and presents a… unique set of challenges for the thrill-seeking globetrotter.

Now in ruins, Greyhollow is merely the detritus of its former glory as the center of a grand dynasty. No one yet knows how or why this seemingly advanced society toppled into decrepitude, leaving nothing but a malingering curse behind to haunt those souls brave enough – determined enough – to breach its wild shores.

Here’s the deal.

The heart of authentic adventure tourism is this: true satisfaction is found in exploration. The challenge found in traversing the world around them is what allows a genuine adventurer to delve into their inner world of self awareness and mastery.

So, the more formidable the landscape, the bigger the personal demon you can eliminate, right?

It doesn’t get more perfect than Greyhollow Island for demon slaying! Of course, the demons may be more literal than metaphorical, but that just makes it MORE challenging!

We here at The Last Door on the Left take a personal interest in ensuring your vacation destination meets all of your strict requirements. That said, when Greyhollow Island opened for visitors this past Tuesday, yours truly and a team of very dedicated professionals ventured forth to establish that our clientele would have nothing but best of receptions on the mysterious isle.

I may be the ONLY one left to tell you that Greyhollow Island has lived up to its enigmatic, unnatural, and downright tragic reputation – and I would certainly add a few non-routine items to the rucksack before heading out (an arsenal is HIGHLY recommended, and if you have access to a skilled wizard or witch doctor… well…) – but never a more beautifully haunted landscape have I laid eyes upon.

So gather up your broadswords and two-handed axes, stock up on potions and pack that spare amulet. Your intrepid soul must be ready for some searching because Greyhollow Island has demons to slay.

I science all day, and unwind with a solid dose of comic books, video games, superhero movies/TV, and anything with a decent whodunit bent. Been reading the Great Detective since I was wee, and watching Doctor Who since I was in utero. Make of that what…

What's your reaction?
