Studio Ghibli Isn’t Done Yet

The last we heard, Studio Ghibli was taking an indefinite break *cries* but there is GOOD NEWS! Studio Ghibli is co-producing a new feature film with a European film distributor called Wild Bunch.

The film that they’re working on is titled The Red Turtle and you can bet that it’s probably going to be hella beautiful.

According to Cinema Today, the film is being directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit, who won an Oscar for his animated short Father and Daughter (which you can watch at the bottom of this post). On the Studio Ghibli side of things, Isao Takahata of Grave of the Fireflies fame is serving as the film’s Artistic Director.

Excited? I SURE AM!

The film is being animated in France at the moment but it’s set to be released in Japan sometime in September of 2016.

Sidebar: if you’re craving some Miyazaki, be sure to check out the documentary The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness. I’m pretty sure that Miyazaki knows the meaning of life. Like seriously.
