Favorite Comic Book Covers of the Week 10/21/15

Hey, thanks for checking out Talking Comics: Favorite Comic Book Covers of the Week!

You’ve got to admit, New Comic Book Release Day is pretty much the best day of the week. It’s the day we’re introduced to new worlds, are able to witness the next chapter in a continuing saga, or fall in love with a character or creator for the first time. I could go on and on, but I think you’ve already gotten my point. That point being … comics are awesome. So awesome in fact that even the covers of them are often times incredible works of art. We’re here to show you some of our  favorite covers each week! So go ahead and take a few moments for yourself (haven’t you earned it?) and feast your eyes on some truly inspired comic book covers!

Beauty #3

Cover by Christopher Mitten

“Beauty” is most certainly an appropriate title for this cover to be affiliated with. I love the white paint spatter that accompanies her ethereal-like hair design. That blood red back-drop isn’t half bad either.

Wolf #3

I never would have thought that hot pink on navy blue would be a color combination that begs for my attention, but here we are! I’m getting a sort of Mad Max vibe from this cover, and maybe a little bit of Stephen King-like wandering business man? I don’t know, does that not seem like something he would cook up?

Gotham Academy #11

Written by Becky Cloonan – Brendan Fletcher

Art and Cover by Karl Kerschl

Um, hello! Maps is playing superhero and sporting a Robin mask! How do we not include this in our entries for this week?

Doctor Fate #5

Written by Paul Levitz

Art and Cover by Sonny Liew

Ahhhhhhh, fun! Have you got a giant alien bug problem, call Doc Fate and let him be your exterminator!

S.H.I.E.L.D. #11

Written by Mark Waid

Art by Evan Shaner

Cover by James Stoke Kirby

I’ve got no clue as to who or what the character on this cover is, but I certainly do like all the intricate detail happening in the background, not to mention that inquisitive look on the alien’s face. Never be afraid to embrace the day and discover something new, even if it’s a way to wipe out the human race.

BLACK CANARY #5 (DC)

Writer: Brendan Fletcher

Artist: Pia Guerra

Variant Cover: Michael Allred

unnamed

It seems as if Michael Allred has confused an assignment for a Black Canary cover for an I, Zombie gig, but you won’t hear me complaining!

SECRET SIX #7 (DC)

Writer: Gail Simone

Artist/Cover: Dale Eaglesham

unnamed (1)

Somehow, this creepy cover by Dale Eaglesham isn’t a “Monsters Month” variant?

ALIENS/VAMPIRELLA #2 (Dynamite)

Writer: Corrina Bechko

Artist: Javier Garcia-Miranda

Variant Cover: Gabriel Hardman

unnamed (2)

Speaking of creepy…

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #2 (Marvel)

Writer: Dan Slott

Artist: Giuseppe Camuncoli

Variant Cover: Paolo Rivera

unnamed (3)

This cool image has me digging through The Archives for FF #24, the first appearance of the “Infant Terrible”!

ASTONISHING ANT-MAN #1 (Marvel)

Writer: Nick Spencer

Artist: Ramon Rosanas

Variant Cover: Tradd Moore

unnamed (4)

“You’ll eat your vegetables if you know what’s good for you!”
