Fans of the Fantastic Four know a little more about the plot of the upcoming movie today. While Fox still hasn’t released photos or a teaser trailer, IGN confirmed with the studio that a synopsis for the film on the movie review website Rotten Tomatoes is official.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy. (C) Fox

A much more detailed plot synopsis rumored to be for the movie appeared online last month, but was called ‘100% bullshit” by the scriptwriter, Jeremy Slater, on Twitter.

This selfie of the cast posted during filming is the closest thing to a FF movie promotional image I could find.

The new Fantastic Four team – played by Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell – is set to hit theaters on Aug. 7, 2015.

Blogger Doom could not be reached for comment on the synopsis.

About The Author

Courtney is a returning reader to the world of comic books, drawn back in by the power of Tom Hiddleston's portrayal of Loki in the MCU and her attraction to broken antagonists with questionable hair. Favorite titles she's currently reading include Loki Agent of Asgard, Saga, Silver Surfer, Ms. Marvel, Gotham Academy, and The Wicked + The Divine. Older favorite comics are Lucifer, Sandman, Kieron Gillen's Journey into Mystery and Young Avengers, and Runaways. When she is not watching television or reading comics and novels, Courtney torments herself by attempting to write fiction. Her favorite apocalyptic scenario is the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano. She enjoys riding horses and distrusts chickens, which she considers to be merely T-Rexes in a clever disguise. One day they'll reveal their true colors and you'll see. You'll all see.
