Talking Movies: Fantasy Box Office League

Whoa!

That took some time.

Last night, a few brave souls endured over three hours of tweeting (seriously, look up #fantasyboxoffice and see what happens) in order to draft our inaugural Fantasy Box Office League.

All in all, we have eight competitors. Three of those are eligible to win the $100 giftcard at the end of the summer. How did it shake out? Take a look below.

Listener Lenny, who lives in the UK, came away with five movies. Batting for him this summer will be:

Chef
Belle
Godzilla (1/2)
Snowpiercer
Deliver Us from Evil
The Purge: Anarchy

Dan, who hung with us on a less-than-exciting uStream, came away with a few more. His roster includes:

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (1/2)
Million Dollar Arm
A Million Ways to Die in the West
Think Like a Man Too
Tammy
Begin Again
Guardians of the Galaxy (1/2)
The Hundred-Foot Journey
Into the Storm

And our last competitor is none other than Bobby Shortle, who went after what he wanted — and for the most part got it. Check this out…

Maleficent
Edge of Tomorrow
How to Train Your Dragon (1/2)
Guardians of the Galaxy (1/2)
Stage Fright
The Sacrement
The Signal
Jessabelle

That brings us to our hosts … how did they fare?

Well, Bryan Dixon went big and early. He wound up with the following (as well as $2 he couldn’t spend):

Godzilla (1/2)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (1/2)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (1/2)
The Expendables 3

Meghan Bard cleaned up — including a Twitter error that earned her (rightfully) TMNT. She has these in her corner:

X-Men: Days of Future Past (1/2)
22 Jump Street
Jersey Boys
Hercules
Step Up All In
Magic in the moonlight
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The Giver

Nick Scalia is up next, and he’s got the following in his rotation…

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (1/2)
The Fault in Our Stars
Transformers: Age of Extinction (1/2)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (1/2)
Jupiter Ascending
If I Stay
The Double
Tracks
Night Moves
Fed Up
Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon
La Bare
The Fluffy Movie

Chris really took home the most last night, with 18 movies in his corner. Most of them are smaller, but still. Here goes:

Neighbors
Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return
Blended
Earth to Echo
And So It Goes
Wish I Was Here
Sex Tape
Get on Up
Lucy
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
Walk of Shame
God’s Pocket
What If
When the Game Stands Tall
Mom’s Night Out
Obvious Child
Happy Christmas
Calvary

And last (and probably least) is me, Brian. I’ve got some good ones for sure, but I have (to quote Nick) buyer’s remorse when it comes to a few. Here they are:

How to Train Your Dragon 2 (1/2)
Transformers: Age of Extinction (1/2)
Planes: Fire & Rescue
Let’s Be Cops
Palo Alto
Words & Pictures
Boyhood
I Origins
November Man
Underdogs
Jane Got a Gun
The Loft

It wasn’t until I wrote this that I realized how very, very screwed I am. Good luck to everybody, and you’ll be getting updates weekly on the podcast. Thanks for playing, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email us at talkingmovies@talkingcomicbooks.com.
