Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Lex Luthor this week and the internet exploded. So, the Talking Comics crew dig into, not just, what they think of the man who was Mark Zuckerberg playing Superman’s biggest foe, but why we all get so bent out of shape about who gets cast in comic book movies in general.  The gang also discussed Justice League: War and discusses the validity of winter preparedness in Arkansas with guest host Mara Wood.

We also, of course, discuss Our Books of the Week, which include:  The Unwritten Vol. 8, Furious, Serenity: Leaves on the Wind, Lil’ Sonja, Earth-2, Bad Dog, Thor: God of Thunder, and Happy Marriage.

Last but not least, if you’re interested in entering the Rachel Rising contest that Terry Moore is currently holding, check out the link here.

Annnnnnnnnnd… we say it on the show, but just in case you missed it, the Talking Comics crew on Twitter are:

Bobby: @bobbyshortle
Steve: @dead_anchoress
Stephanie: @hellocookie
And Bob’s email is

FYI: the crew have gone all superhero on the world, thanks to the wonderful Hanie Mohd. Like them? Make sure to follow her and let us know what you think of our new superhero pictures.

Great topic on the outcry of casting news in comic book movies. One major drawback to the massive geek culture that exists in today’s society is there’s so much negativity for such inconsequential things. I think Mara put it best on the show when she suggested that these people that take to Twitter to protest the casting of Jesse Eisenberg devote the same passion to the more important things in their lives.

Also, update to the Talking Comics Drinking Game. Now, instead of taking a drink when Bob gets a Transformers title wrong, it should be take a drink when Bob says, “this is my last issue.”

With so many of “my” books always getting cancelled, and with The Movement likely on the way out, your liver might not hold up!

ps) I’ve alerted my LCS to take Worlds’ Finest off my pull list! Wait–does that mean you’ll have to take a shot? Oh, sorry about that! rrr

Mara talked about manga. Viz media, Crunchyroll and Kodansha USA are starting to make all of their manga available online. Late last year Viz even said that by the 1st half of 2014 all of their manga would be available. So here are some legal places you can read manga online or on your phone and tablet. There is a small fee each month(i think about 5 bucks) but after that I believe you can read as much as you want.
