Actress Added to ‘GUARDIANS’ Cast; Villain Named

Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled for release on next year on August 1st and there’s been another actor added to the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, British actress Ophelia Lovibond has been in casted in an unspecified role.   Lovibond has previously appeared in Nowhere Boy and Mr. Popper’s Penguins.

What will she play in the Marvel film? Well here’s where things get mysterious. The Hollywood Reporter first reported that Lovibond is to play “an aide to a near-immortal being called The Collector” — which appears to also confirm that long-time Marvel villain The Collector will have a role in the film. However the Reporter’s story has been updated on Tuesday morning to state the following: “Details of Lovibond’s role are being kept in the farther reaches of deep space, home of Marvel’s security bunker.”

So where did The Collector go? Perhaps the reveal of the villain was not supposed to be announced just yet or maybe Gunn is still working on picking a villain for the movie as he’s in the midst of doing rewrites and location scouts across the UK while preps for filming and continues to add actors to the cast.

Whether or not The Collector will appear in the film, Lovibond joins Michael Rooker (as Yondu),Chris Pratt (as Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (as Gamora), and Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer). So how do you guys feel about this new cast member and who do you think she’ll be portraying? Do you think that The Collector will still be in the film? And who’s going to play Rocket Raccoon?

What's your reaction?
