NYCC: Scott Snyder and Sean Murphy embark on “The Wake”

The NYCC Vertigo panel was bittersweet from fans of writer Scott Snyder. The bitter is that the aforementioned writer and artist Rafael Albuquerque will put their long running series American Vampire on hiatus, for close to a year, after issue #34. The team wants time to write ahead in the series and allow themselves the ability to focus on other DC work. Snyder does claim that the end of the current Blacklist arc will change the series dramatically and that when they do come back that they will vault the series into the 1960’s.

Now it’s time for the sweet as Snyder announced a collaboration with 12-issue horror/science fiction series Punk Rock Jesus creator Sean Murphy called “The Wake” “This is a story I’ve been working on with Sean for over a year,” Snyder said. He promises it will be huge featuring a “horrifying realization of human evolution,” sea monsters and a lot of other craziness. Punk Rock Jesus has been amazing, Snyder is the king and I can’t wait to see what is coming.
